Watching Television Is Bad for Children Free Essays
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Watching television is bad for children. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. Most people in the world including children use to watch TV at least two hours per day. We will write a custom essay sample on Watching Television Is Bad for Children or any similar topic only for you Order Now Some people believe watching TV may pose several negative effects for their children, while others think that TV provides more benefits for children than negative effects. These two points of view will be discussed accordingly. In the modern world there are many different programs, movies and cartoons which are interesting for all children. Some parents complain that their children use to watch TV for a long time, while they are at work, which results to a slow progress at school and also make their lifestyle less active. This is evidenced in how many children like to watch the ââ¬ËNickelodeonââ¬â¢ channel and even know the names of most characters in many cartoons. It is obvious that children prefer to spend their time watching TV than doing daily homework for school purposes or going in for sports. On the other hand, many argue that watching TV poses advantages to childrenââ¬â¢s intellectual capacities, because they may also watch many cognitive channels, for instance the ââ¬ËBBC Worldââ¬â¢, the ââ¬ËAnimal planetââ¬â¢ or the ââ¬ËDiscoveryââ¬â¢ which provide daily news or other interesting facts. In conclusion, watching TV is not bad for children, as it may develop their intellectual capacities. However parents should control what their children are watching and also do not allow them to watch TV more than two hours per day, because watching TV for a long time may pose several negative effects for their studies at school as well as for their health status. How to cite Watching Television Is Bad for Children, Papers Watching Television Is Bad for Children Free Essays Television is an ever-present form of entertainment and information in modern society. Although there are many excellent educational programs, I believe that television may not be good for children. This is because television can make children more violent due to violent content and because television may have a negative influence on childrenââ¬â¢s schoolwork. We will write a custom essay sample on Watching Television Is Bad for Children or any similar topic only for you Order Now One problem is that television makes children more aggressive. Oftentimes, especially in the evenings and on cable television there is a lot of violence depicted in programs. Children are often exposed to these programs, and there are some people that believe that these programs can even make children more violent. In the news, there was a story about a young boy who was watching an action movie that had a lot of fighting. The boy tried some of the things that he saw in the movie on his younger brother and put him in the hospital. The problem is that many of the characters in movies that are performing violent actions are supposed to be the heroes, and children want to mimic the actions of their heroes. In a young mind, seeing as children are copying heroic action, they do not see it as a wrong behavior. Another big problem with television is that it may have a negative influence on childrenââ¬â¢s schoolwork. Every moment spent in front of a television screen is one less moment spent on more productive activities. In recent years, educators have pointed out a drop in academic performance, and one of the culprits may be television. When children are at home, especially alone, they tend to turn on the TV in order to be passively entertained. However, there is no learning going on when one just sits and watches TV. That is much easier than putting thought into schoolwork. Television can be addictive and cause children to spend more time watching TV than doing their homework. Children have to be monitored to make sure that the bulk of their time is spent on the more important activities, such as learning. Television can be an entertaining way to spend free time as long as it is not abused. However, children especially need to monitored when they watch TV. This is because there is evidence that television violence is causing some children to be more aggressive, and TV may also be harming children academically. As with anything, watching too much television is bad for children. How to cite Watching Television Is Bad for Children, Papers

Causes And Types Of Impetigo Essay Essays
Causes And Types Of Impetigo Essay Essays Causes And Types Of Impetigo Essay Essay Causes And Types Of Impetigo Essay Essay The chief bacterial pathogen associated with impetigo is Staphylococcus aureus. which are Gram-positive bacteriums that are ubiquitously present in the environment ( Melles et al. . 2004 ) . Other instances of impetigo involve bacterial species. Staphylococcus pyogenes. which is besides known as group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus ( GABHS ) . One alone characteristic of impetigo is that it could happen as either a primary or secondary infection in an person. Secondary infection is frequently involved with its happening with a preexistent infection of the tegument. as exemplified by eczema and itchs ( Lizano et al. . 2007 ) . Impetigo can happen as one of two signifiers. viz. bullous and non-bullous. Majority of the impetigo instances are of the non-bullous signifier ( Koning et al. . 2003 ) . The bacteriums normally infect countries of the tegument that are often exposed to the environment. such as that of the face. every bit good as the weaponries and legs. Bullous impetigo by and large affects the facial and trunk parts of the organic structure. It is besides possible that the natess and perineum are infected with bacteriums. The blisters associated with bullous impetigo are by and large of a diameter of 3 centimetres. It has been suggested that immature kids are extremely susceptible to this type of skin infection because they often come in close contact with people. including that in the place and in the kid attention centres ( Beheshti and Ghotbi. 2007 ) . Other environmental conditions serve as extra hazards in geting impetigo. For illustration. persons who live or work in crowded conditions are more likely to develop this skin infection due to the close contact with other persons that may be transporting the bacterial pathogen. Warm temperatures and humidness can besides increase the likeliness of skin infections. as these are optimum conditions for bacteriums to boom in. It is besides possible to get the bacteriums through contact athleticss because of the close interaction with other participants and the presence of perspiration and heat during these activities. Impetigo may besides impact the aged. particularly if their immune system has weakened or their likeliness of lesion healing is hapless. such as that observed in diabetics. DIAGNOSIS OF IMPETIGO Impetigo is by and large diagnosed through the presence of symptoms such as herpes zosters. every bit good as cold sores on different countries of the organic structure. In add-on. a patient may besides demo marks of fungous infections in combination with eczema. In order to exactly find the type of impetigo in a patient. a differential diagnosing should be conducted. For non-bullous impetigo. symptoms such as herpes zosters. every bit good as cold sores. facilitate in doing an accurate diagnosing. Other symptoms for non-bullous impetigo include fungi-based skin infections. every bit good as eczema. In the instance of bullous impetigo. the presence of thermic Burnss. including blisters. find the precise type of impetigo. There may be cases when complications do happen. and these are associated with cellulitis. every bit good as blood poisoning. which are conditions that reflect the farther spreading of the infection to the other parts of the organic structure. It is besides possible to detect lymphangitis in a patient with bullous impetigo. Unfortunately. impetigo has besides recently been associated with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus ( MRSA ) . a bacterial pestilence that has taken centre phase in the field of infective diseases ( Noguchi et al. . 2006 ) . It has been established that the transmittal of the infection is chiefly through direct contact with the tegument sore. The chief method for diagnosing is through taking swab samples of the skin countries that has been reported by the patient to be infected. The swab samples are analyzed in the research lab for the presence of Staphylococcus bacteriums. Unfortunately. the designation of the bacterium does non automatically decide whether the skin status is an existent infection or a colonisation event. The method of tissue sample aggregation besides influences the consequences of the diagnostic trial and therefore it is of import to exert cautiousness with respects to the methods of aggregation and analysis ( Yamasaki et al. . 2005 ) . It is besides of import to correlate the consequences of the diagnostic trial and the existent visual aspect of the skin lesions. Another step for precise diagnosing and intervention is to hold the patient checked once more after seven yearss of intervention. in order to find if the current medicine is so taking consequence or non. If the tegument lesions appear to be the same or minimally healed after seven to 14 yearss of intervention. so it is possible that the initial diagnosing is uncomplete or wrong. PATHOGENESIS OF IMPETIGO The initial pustules of impetigo appear on the face. with a concentration in the countries environing the oral cavity. every bit good as the olfactory organ. of the patient. It is besides possible to detect the first few pustules in countries that have been cut. scratched or bitten. as these countries are premier substrates for the generation of the bacterial pathogen ( Metts. 2002 ) . Impetigo is ab initio observed as a red-colored sore which ruptures within a few yearss ( Hanakawa et al. . 2002 ) . The fluid contents are released and a brown-colored crust develops above the country of the pustule. This skin disease is really contagious and the infection is easy spread to other parts of the organic structure by rubing and changeless contact with the sore itself. The tegument sores are by and large non associated with any hurting and therefore does non trouble oneself an single except for the sight of the ruddy sore on his tegument. In add-on. an single with impetigo does non demo any marks of febrility hence it is less likely that the person will be alarmed of the presence of a few sores on his tegument. However. the tegument sores multiply to other countries of the organic structure and bring forth dark-coloured crusts and by this clip. the single frequently contemplates on seeking medical attending. Unfortunately. by the clip the person is attended to by a doctor. he has already come in contact with a figure of other persons and the bacterial pathogen has already spread. The lesions associated with impetigo by and large mend within a few hebdomads. yet there may be complications linked to this infection that are deemed fatal. One of the serious complications of impetigo is acute nephritic failure. An person diagnosed with impetigo can really return to his day-to-day activities such as schooling or working if he has been on antibiotic intervention for at least 24 hours. TREATMENT OF IMPETIGO There are presently a figure of intervention options that are available for impetigo. The intervention formats range from unwritten capsules to clamber unctions. where the chief constituent of the medicine is an antibiotic ( Taylor. 2004 ) . However. it has been recommended that both formats be administered to a patient with impetigo. in order to to the full command the farther spread of the infection to the remainder of the organic structure. every bit good as to other persons ( Fleming et al. . 2007 ) . Despite the handiness of different intervention options. there is presently a argument on the most effectual method of handling this peculiar tegument infection ( George and Rubin. 2003 ) . Biomedical scientists are still contending on whether the unwritten path or the topical path of intervention is more efficient. yet evidence-based pattern indicates that topical unctions are every bit effectual as unwritten intervention of impetigo ( Koning et al. . 2002 ) . Other intervention options have emerged. such as those topical unctions that are supplemented with corticoids to rush the reaction. every bit good as antiseptic preparations that could be used as washing liquids. There are besides fresh unctions that have included aromas such as tea and ginger ( MacDonald. 2004 ) . It is besides of import to find the extent of the skin infection. in order to allow administer an effectual antibiotic intervention. In instances wherein impetigo is still restricting. it has been suggested that muciprocin can be administered as an effective therapy for impetigo ( Koning and van der Wouden. 2004 ) . However. patients with extended conditions of impetigo should be treated with antibiotics through the unwritten path ( Brown and Wise. 2003 ) . Oral medicines such as penicillin. every bit good as Mefoxins. are therefore considered as the appropriate drugs for intervention. Clinical probes have suggested that the most dependable method of finding if a intervention for impetigo has resulted in a clinical remedy is to find whether the patient is relieved of the symptoms after one hebdomad of curative intercession ( Brown and Wise. 2002 ) . Earlier perceptual experiences were that impetigo was a self-limiting infection and therefore the natural patterned advance of the infection would decidedly discontinue after an appropriate period of clip. However. it is still of import to handle a patient with impetigo since this skin disease is extremely contagious and therefore the necessary safeguards should be implemented to forestall its farther transmittal. The Strange Fate of Indias Peacock Throne
The Strange Fate of India's Peacock Throne The Peacock Throne was a wonder to behold - a gilded platform, canopied in silk and encrusted in precious jewels. Built in the 17th century for theà Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who also commissioned the Taj Mahal, the throne served as yet another reminder of the extravagance of this mid-century ruler of India. Although the piece only lasted for a short while, its legacy lives on as one of the most ornate and highly sought after pieces of royal property in the regions history. A relic of the Mughal Golden Age, the piece was originally lost and recommissioned before being destroyed forever by rival dynasties and empires. Like Solomon When Shah Jahan ruled the Mughal Empire, it was at the height of its Golden Age, a period of great prosperity and civil accord amongst the Empires people - covering most of India. Recently, the capital had been re-established in Shahjahanabad in the ornately decorated Red Fort, where Jahan held many decadent feasts and religious festivals. However, the young emperorà knew that in order to be, as Solomon had been, the Shadow of God - or the arbiter of Gods will on earth - he needed to have a throne like his. A Jewel-Encrusted Gold Throne Shah Jahan commissioned a jewel-encrustedà gold throne to be built on a pedestal in the courtroom, where he could then be seated above the crowd, closer to God. Among the hundreds of rubies, emeralds, pearls, and other jewels embedded in the Peacock Throne was the famed 186-carat Koh-i-Noor diamond, which was later taken by the British. Shah Jahan, his son Aurangzeb, and later Mughal rulers of India sat on the glorious seat until 1739, when Nader Shah of Persia sacked Delhi and stole the Peacock Throne. Destruction In 1747, Nader Shahs bodyguards assassinated him, and Persia descended into chaos. The Peacock Throne ended up being chopped to pieces for its gold and jewels. Although the original was lost to history, some antiquities experts believe that the legs of the 1836 Qajar Throne, which was also called the Peacock Throne, might have been taken from the Mughal original. The 20th century Pahlavi dynasty in Iran also called their ceremonial seat the Peacock Throne, continuing this pillaged tradition. Several other ornate thrones may have also been inspired by this extravagantà piece, most notably the overexaggerated version King Ludwig II of Bavaria had made some time before 1870 for his Moorish Kiosk in Linderhof Palace.à The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is said to also have potentially discovered a marble leg from the pedestal of the original throne. Similarly, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London said to have discovered the same years later.à However, neither of these have been confirmed. Indeed, the glorious Peacock Throne may have been lost to all of history forever - all for the want of power and control of India at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

20 century China Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
20 century China - Essay Example Deng Xiaopingââ¬â¢s era was marked as the ââ¬Å"decade of reformâ⬠as it effected a total revamp of the legal system, brought in more democracy at government and party levels, gave more freedom for the people for self-government and became a new era of hope for the Chinese republic.A transformation from communism to socialist democracy was visible in all spheres. This change brought about also the development of a socialist political civilization. It was a time when writers, a group of Marxist theoreticians, scientists and their disciple-students were lining up for democracy and forming a network. They had a vision that, in order to nourish democracy, a limit has to be drawn on the powers of the ruling Marxist Party.Deng era was also an era of legal reforms. There was a steady reform process going on to establish a socialist legal system. A more independent judiciary and freedom of press evolved through this. In this way, the political reform in China was coming of age by effe ctive changes in administrative and legal systems and policies. In this way, the reform era marked the establishment of a full-fledged legal system, where laws were enacted and codified and a regular network of courts started functioning. The reach and effectiveness of judiciary was considerably increased with effective monitoring and punitive provisions wherever pitfalls were seen. The reforms included, giving more self-determination powers and self rule provisions to ethnic groups and regions, more democratic election process at party-level and government-level and more centralized administration of remote regions of the nation. Multiple candidates were allowed in the elections for the peopleââ¬â¢s congresses and this was for the first time after revolution (Goldman, 13). Also secret ballot system was introduced (Goldman, 13). In 1987, the elections to the Central Committee were held in the 13th Party Congress, allowing multiple candidates (Goldman, 13). Soon after taking charge of the nation, Deng removed all intellectuals from the category that comes under the term, ââ¬Ëbourgeoisieââ¬â¢ (Goldman, 30). Elections were allowed for deciding the administrative heads of professional and scientific establishments (Goldman, 30). All these initiated a new vigor in Chinese political scene. The proclaimed slogan of Deng-era had been ââ¬Å"political democratizationâ⬠(Goldman, 35). All these reforms have been successful when viewed from the side of democracy but they resulted in the lessening of the power of the party. If viewed from the side of the implementers of these reforms, it can be seen that the reforms did bring in more democracy but also weakened the existing domination of the party. The most important aspect of reforms has been that a well-defined system for scrutinizing and recording social situations was established and also a space was provided for public discourses and grievance-hearing onsocial issues. All these changes together saw the b irth of a new socialist China where people had more rights and more freedom. 2. What are the basic element and goals in Dengââ¬â¢s economic reform agenda? What are the major obstacles to successfully completion the economic reform process? Dengââ¬â¢s economic reform agenda looked forward to correcting the anomalies in Chinaââ¬â¢s economy and helping it grow. But despite the few benefits harvested from the reforms through privatisation and new tax system, major sectors like agriculture, industry, finance and foreign trade failed to reap the promises of the reform. The focus was on a socialist economy which could only be developed through extensive industrialization. The major aspect of economic reform in Deng-era was the decentralization that was initiated (Shen, 9 of preface). The key elements of the reform were, ââ¬Å"readjustment, restructuring, consolidation and improvementââ¬

Kingdoms of Life - Assignment Example Life cycle of malaria parasite consists of two hosts. In the process of blood meal, female Anopheles mosquito that is malaria-infected injects sporozoites into its host (human) (stage 1). Inoculated sporozoites then infect cells of the liver (stage 2) and develop into schizonts (stage 3), which finally burst and discharge merozoites (stage 4). Merozoites are responsible for infections in red blood cells. RhizopusThe life cycle of Rhizopus nigricans (black bread mold) is identical with several members of phylum Zygomycota. Mold experiences both frequent periods of sexual and asexual reproduction. Gametangia combine (fuse) in the first reproduction stage (sexual). The results from these fusions are Zygosporangium, which then forms a dense coat awaiting favorable conditions to proceed further with development. Favorable conditions will give way for germination of zygosporangium into sporangium. Finally, asexual reproduction follows. In asexual reproduction, sporangium produces spores, w hich are ultimately dispersed. FernFerns have sporangia that are responsible for production of spores (stage 1). Through meiosis, spores, signified by half the chromosomes of parent plant, are produced (stage 2). Produced spores are then released to the air. In case they land on soil with suitable growing conditions, they develop into gametophytes (which are entirely separate fern plants). FrogThe life cycle begins with mating process-commonly referred to as amplexus (stage 1). The process can last a number of days.
